MICRO-LEARNING: Bite Size Lessons, Deep Learning!

Session Description

With employee time and attention already stretched thin in the modern organization, finding time for meaningful develop opportunities can be a challenge. Micro-learning combats these challenges with mini, blended learning programs. Changing the workplace learning environment with varied, mini-lessons, over a span of time, helps to solidify the learning objectives, and provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed, while 1. choosing the time and location for learning, 2. planning only 5-20 minutes at a time, 3. benefiting from visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning methods, 4. having it reinforced over time for deeper learning. In this session, we will help you understand how to develop micro-learning programs through micro-learning. Be prepared for bite sized lessons with deep learning!

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe micro-learning and the benefits of this technique for deeper learning
  2. Explain how to move from traditional training to a micro-learning model
  3. Understand how micro-learning can be used to build awareness and/or enhance performance
  4. Leverage diverse technology and techniques within the learning strategy
  5. Improve transfer-of-knowledge in current training programs

Bethany Adams

Bethany Adams holds a BA in Psychology and a MA in Organizational Management. She is currently the Associate Director of Marketing & Strategy in Villanova’s HRD program. She previously has worked for Blue Baker, LLC as the HR Director and Starbucks Coffee Company as a General Manager and Corporate Trainer. She has experience teaching in both an online and traditional classroom for Villanova University and Blinn College. Bethany hosts a podcast called HR Tea featuring interviews with HR leaders, researchers, students and influencers.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Patricia Sullivan

Dr. Patricia Sullivan is Founder and CEO of Profit by Design, HR Consulting (PDHR), specializing in leadership coaching and development. With over 20 years in leadership roles, as a human resources executive she has led results driven projects in ISO and FDA regulated industries, with a culture focus on high performing organizations. Dr. Sullivan’s research is in leadership effectiveness, self-awareness and organizational commitment. Dr. Sullivan earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Adult Education.
